You Are What You… Think?! (Part 3)

Mind-Body Practices for Well-Being: A variety of mind-body practices have emerged as effective tools for promoting health and well-being by fostering harmony between the mind and body. Physical practices include mindfulness meditation, yoga, tai chi, and deep breathing exercises, among others. Psychological exercises may include cognitive reframing and gratitude practice (more on the latter next time).

Cognitive reframing is a technique that involves changing the way we perceive and interpret situation. It encourages us to identify our negative thoughts, and to question their validity by examining the evidence supporting them and considering alternative explanations. Finally, we replace those negative thoughts with more realistic and compassionate interpretations that offer hope, optimism, and empowerment. By challenging negative thought patterns and replacing them with more adaptive and empowering beliefs, we can build resilience and cope more effectively with life’s ups and downs.
