Medical weight loss is a specialized approach to weight loss that is guided by medical professionals. It involves a comprehensive evaluation of your health, as well as ongoing monitoring and support, to help you lose weight safely and effectively. We provide the best weight loss medications available in order to best support your journey to better health.

Medical weight loss is overseen by medical professionals who have specialized training and expertise in weight loss; and can provide customized treatment plans based on your individual health needs. Our approach is amongst the most comprehensive and effective programs available today to lose weight.

Medical weight loss may be a good option if you have a significant amount of weight to lose, or if you have underlying health conditions that may be contributing to your weight gain. You may not be a candidate for injectable weight loss medications if you have personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, MEN II, or are pregnant. A medical weight loss clinic should always explore your medical history to determine your eligibility for their weight loss program.

At the initial consult, we do a comprehensive review of your medical history, including exploring previous weight loss attempts. Lab work ensures that the medication of choice is safe for you, and provides a baseline for gauging improvement of overall health. It can also identify underlying metabolic issues that can be addressed to encourage weight loss. The Shalva weight loss program is multi-faceted, and is designed to address the underlying causes of excess weight. We’ll discuss recommendations for changes in lifestyle habits, including nutritional goals and physical activity regimens. An individualized schedule will be implemented regarding frequency of follow-up visits.

In some cases, medical weight loss may be covered by insurance. However, this is often not the case. We will provide a superbill that can be submitted to insurance for reimbursement when applicable.

The length of a medical weight loss program can vary depending on your individual needs and goals. Some programs may last a few months, while others may span several years. Obesity is a chronic condition that may require a lifelong regimen, similar to conditions like diabetes or hypertension.

As with any medical treatment, there can be potential risks and side effects. However, the significant benefits of these medications in reducing weight-related complications usually outweigh (no pun intended!) the likelihood of negative outcomes. It’s important to discuss any concerns you may have with your medical professional and follow all recommendations and guidelines provided.

Telehealth is a live, online care video visit with a provider. We offer online weight loss consults as well as sick care visits via telehealth. Sick care via telehealth can be used for non-life-threatening conditions such as a fever, flu, cold, sore throat and others. Your provider will discuss your symptoms, answer questions and fill a prescription, if needed, via video chat. We utilize the telehealth platform as a viable alternative for in-office visits.

You will be billed upon completion of your visit. If you purchase a prescription for a medical weight loss program, billing will occur once a month. When you subscribe, your card will be charged the day of your visit, and every 30 days based on the day you subscribed. Example: If you began on the 15th of the month. Your next payment will be due on the 15th of the next month.
